After the water recedes, there needs to be some healing of the land. It would be secondary succession because there is still soil leftover. Succession is the replacement of on type of community by another at a single location over a period of time.

Secondary succession is quick, so we can add species soon after the disaster.

With the flood, the time for the secondary succession will take place while the water is being treated. That way, once the water is healthy and the biome is ready for life, we're ready to put the organisms in. Using secondary succession will be the quickest and the most efficient way for the biome to re-grow.Secondary succession the wild plants will grow in the first and second year then in 5-15 years coniferous trees will grow then in about 80 to 100 year there will be a full grown forest. The organisms will grow around the climax species (the cattails) until everything evened out and the biome was repaired. In conclusion Illinois will be totally back to normal in less than 100 years.
